Well it is raining again this morning in Paris. But little consequence since we all slept in very late this morning. Cole and Judith went to the market and got some fresh croissants and coffee. We ate and hung out until the rain tried to clear.

a view of the adjoining living area
Diana passed the time with her cross stitch
Judith caught up on her reading... and Cole does what he always does...got lost on his Mac Pro
The rain let up so we decided to make our way to the Seine area and do some shopping. the stairs here are much more to my liking!
Diana is determined to buy a purse in Paris
Judith decides to help her at another store
And another
No luck. Let's move down to the busier shopping area.
And the search goes on.
No luck again. Onto the Metro to go to the river market area
The Hotel de Ville outside the Metro station
Diana poses with kids outside the Paris City Hall
We can't seem to beat the intermittent rain
We find a small cafe and decide to have lunch. Dave needs to rehydrate first.
A traditional french lunch of grilled cheese with a cheese and spices topping. With fries of course.
Cole decides he needs a more substantial salad.
The tower in the background is all that left of a cathedral following the french revolution. The revolutionists decided it was too beautiful to tear down so it still stands 300+ years later
Diana is still looking for that perfect purse
Or maybe just a new shirt
Even a soggy day doesn't keep the French inside
Cole tells his Mom there is a better shopping area he knows
so back on the subway to get there
The Opera Hotel
We have arrived at the the Au Printemps. The Mega-building of fine shopping. Dave sees the gold leaf on the building and senses shopping danger.
A view of across the street
Hard to find anyone who speaks English. Although French is a beautiful language. I keep asking questions just to hear people talk. We think we are told to go to the bottom floor for handbags. Instead we find an entire floor dedicated to ladies under garments and lingerie. Row after row and row. We walk what seems forever.
But finally the girls spot purse heaven and run ahead. Cole and Dave decide the pursuit of the perfect purse is too much so we stop for a coffee. The Girls shop on.
The girls find the mecca of purse shopping in the store.
Gucci
Prada
Coach
Longchamp
Diana is in nirvana!
Vanessabruno
Louis Vuitton
Chanel. Notice the line to get in. Also notice the store manager watching me take this picture. I was quickly scolded that no photos were allowed. Pardon Moi!
We decided to skip the Chanel store. I tried to get Judith to show her Tiffany ring so that they would now we were players. Screw it. Lets go home and get ready to have Jesse and Harmony over for the evening for dinner and the big Barcelona vs Chelsea game. It's a must win for Barcelona I think???
Going home but look at the sky now. It is a beautiful Paris afternoon. The statue in the back is on the Square de Republic.
One last stop to buy some groceries and wine for tonight
Cole shows Mom the finer point to selection de Frommage.
Our last full day in Paris
Jesse and Harmony come over the apartment for the soccer game and dinner. We have Pizza, bread, wine, brie, and Foie Gras (which is really just the liver from a forced fatten duck ... but Foie Gras sounds so much nicer)
And of course our visitors brought macaroons and wine. Pourquoi pas?
The game was a disappointment (for Cole) with the scoundrels of Chelsea upsetting the much beloved Barcelona team. A final group shot with Judith, Cole, Harmony, and Jesse before they depart home. So our final night in Paris is almost over. "Judith- What time does the train leave for Amsterdam tomorrow???"
I enjoy this so much!! Dave, thanks so much for updating us! (Judith doesn't seem to write fast enough) Did Diana find a purse?
ReplyDeleteNo she didn't but don't count her out yet
ReplyDeleteI liked the pink purse in the photo near the end. I could see that one for Diana and it would match her pink computer!
ReplyDeleteSo what was for dinner?
ReplyDeletecheck out the updates for day three..
DeleteA perfect dinner for the game. Sorry to hear about your team :( So, I have a lady that raves about the french macaroons (macarons). Are they really that good? I do love all the pretty colors they come in.
DeleteThe shopping! I can't believe no purse. the pink one was nice, but maybe it was the thrill of the chase that got you all. :)
