Birthday Tulips

Happy birthday to my good friend, Sarah! These are her birthday tulips:

I love living in a city that has such beautiful flowers- and for so cheap! Even during the winter, we're able to buy healthy flowers every Saturday at the market and they always stay fresh for at least a week. Anyway, these flowers are dedicated to my friend, Sarah, on her birthday and they are just a taste of the wonderful world of tulips that we'll experience this spring!

Life in Leiden

Welcome to our blog about living in Leiden, the Netherlands. Leiden is a small university town about 20 minutes southwest of Amsterdam and I am spending my last semester in law school studying abroad here. So far, we love it. Leiden and Amsterdam are both gorgeous, the people are friendly and the food is delicious. Since we've been here for a month without a blog, these first few posts will be a collection of photos to catch you up on our life in Holland. We hope you enjoy!

 We arrived in Amsterdam and to make it through the day, we got Starbucks in the airport.

 After we took a taxi to Leiden with all of our luggage, we ventured out to see our new town.

We had to try our new 'local' beer- even though I look like I'm about to fall asleep.

About a week after we arrived, we experienced our first snowfall. 

 We were on a tour of the town with a group from my school when it started snowing and it stayed for a week. This is us in front of 'our canal'- it's the closest canal to where we live.

The canal at night a few days later when the water was frozen and people decided to start ice skating on it.

Finally, Cole and I celebrated Valentine's Day on Tuesday by going out to dinner at a French restaurant on the other side of the canal.
